Counseling Resources for Men

Portland's Men's Resource Center offers counseling for men individually, with their partner or family, and in groups. Common issues addressed include relationship problems, depression, life transitions, lack of focus or direction, recovery from childhood abuse and anger and domestic abuse.

Men's Programs

Domestic Violence Intervention Groups
Explore beliefs, power and control issues, and accountability. Resolve conflicts and anger without abuse.

Anger Management Group
An eighteen-week minimum group for men who have angry acting-out behavior in public settings, such as work, in bars, or in traffic. It is not intended for the individual with domestic violence issues.

Men's Personal Growth
Focus on issues of personal concern in a supportive environment with other men.

Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse
Transform strong emotions and self devaluing beliefs.

Male Victim Recovery
Develop abuse awareness, coping strategies and self care.

Individual Therapy
Progress toward personal goals; work through depression, anxiety, or other emotional concerns; progress through life transitions.

Couples Therapy
Develop skills for conflict resolution, facilitate communication, and increase intimacy.

Gay Men's Counseling Services
Counseling geared to the specific needs and issues of gay men.

Substance Abuse Violence Intervention (SAVI)

Dual Focus Program
Challenge violent behavior and alcohol and drug use. Support self-awareness and change.

Work Issues

Managing Workplace Anger
Learn effective problem solving skills and anger management tools.
